TVS Apache RR 310 vs KTM RC 390 high-performance motorcycles.
TVS launched the much-awaited Apache RR 310 in India late last year. It is the first fully-faired motorcycle of TVS and gained quite an attention in the market due to its styling and the new engine. The motorcycle competes directly with the KTM RC 390 in the market. If you’re out in the market and shopping for a motorcycle in the fully-faired segment, here’s what you would want to know.
Want a track oriented bike
KTM RC 390
The KTM RC 390 is an extreme motorcycle in every department. Be its sharp styling, riding position or high-revving engine. The KTM 390 is quite sharp for track purposes. If you’re someone who is looking at an entry-level track tool, between the two bikes, the KTM RC 390 will serve the purpose better.
While the Apache RR 310 also is an aggressive bike, the RC 390 gets extra marks for the Metzeler tyres and better brakes. The high-knee position, slipper clutch and ride-by-throttle all make the RC 390 a better tool on the track.
Want a city focused bike
TVS Apache RR 310
If you want a bike that will be majorly used inside the city limits, the Apache RR 310 excels much better than the RC 390. It has a slightly more relaxed riding position when compared to the KTM, has a more relaxed engine, which means a lower number of gear changes, and it has better fuel efficiency too. The RC 390’s engine becomes quite hot at lower speeds, making it very difficult to ride within the city limits.
Want a high-way friendly bike
Apache RR 310
The TVS Apache RR 310 continues to be the master of the highway too. The reasonably relaxed riding position means the rider remains much more comfortable during the long journeys. The Apache also gets a larger 11-litre tank compared to the 10-litre tank of the RC 390. With more mileage on Apache, it translates into a few number of stops during long trips, which is an essential long.
Want a quick motorcycle
KTM RC 390
The KTM RC 390 is a seriously quick motorcycle. It is powered by a 373.2cc, liquid-cooled engine that churns out a maximum of 44 Bhp – 36 Nm. The Apache is powered by a 310cc engine that churns out a maximum of 34 Bhp – 27.3 Nm. They weigh almost the same with a difference of 500g. According to the tests, the TVS Apache does 0-100 km/h in 6.28 seconds while the KTM 390 Duke does the same in just 5.39 seconds. It is almost 1 second faster than the Apache.
Want a feature-rich bike
TVS Apache RR 310
The TVS has a fully digital vertically mounted LCD console that is very feature-rich. The console displays various information and features. A few of them like track lap timer, digital engine temperature gauge, 0-60 km/h timing, 0-100 km/h timing, and top speed recorded on the last ride. This is easily the most advanced console between the two. Apache RR 310 also gets Bi-Xenon projector headlamps and petal disc brakes.
Want an enthusiast-focused bike
KTM RC 390
The KTM RC 390 gets some serious equipment. The bike gets a slipper clutch, ride-by-wire and super sticky Metzeler tyres. Even though both the bikes get ABS, you cannot turn that off in the TVS Apache RR 310. KTM offers much more the enthusiast fraternity than the Apache 310. So if you love mechanically advanced bikes over feature-rich ones, the RC 390 would be an apt choice.
